‘I am really looking forward to playing in my first Champions League semifinal, and I want to do a good job,’ said Coutinho. ‘Returning to Anfield will be very special, because I was very happy at Liverpool. ‘The Champions Leaguue is our big objective and we have to have a strong mentality for these types of games.” ‘Liverpool are a side with a very strong mentality, above all at home. They area great side in attack and defence, so we will have to be alert. ‘They aren’t only about a strong attack. They have a great side and Anfield has a magnificent atmosphere.’
Coutinho, of course, is not the only former Liverpool player currently with Barcelona. Luis Suarez is set to feature against his former side for the first time since his departure from Anfield in 2014. The Uruguayan joined Barcelona for a fee of around £75m and has won 13 pieces of silverware in less than five years in SpainLiverpool are the only English side to win away at Barcelona in European competition, beating them 1-0 in the 1975-76 UEFA Cup and 2-1 in the 2006-07 Champions League.

Their only such progression came in 2008-09 against Chelsea, before beating Manchester United in the final in Rome.
