Hello George,
Thank you for your email. Essentially, what you will need to do is to set up a local client and create a virtual host to ripple.com/client using it. Unfortunately, I will be unable to provide guidance beyond that. Moreover, please know that we have your information on record, and that if another account migration method becomes available in the future, we will reach out to you and let you know. I hope that this information helps. Please let me know if you have any followup questions.

Bryant

Hi Bryant,
I hope you are familiar with Digital Ocean, here are the available apps:
which one would be best?
Please give me a little more guidance on how to get this Ripple Client running...
thanks

Hello George,
Thank you for your followup. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Digital Ocean's service, and have not actually set up a hosted version of the classic Ripple client myself. I will follow up with a peer who has more experience with these kinds of setups as soon as possible. In the mean time, we do not currently have a version of the classic Ripple client that is useable for accessing account details. However, I have made note of your information, and will be sure to update you if such a thing is developed. In the mean time, I will keep your ticket in the "Pending" state, while I try to find help for you in hosting the client yourself. Please let me know if you have any questions along the way.

Bryant

Hi Bryant,
I'm not a total novice, but I just have my shitty XP netbook with me, so I will try and use digital ocean's service to do this
DO YOU KNOW IT?
could I just use a droplet to host the client?
Please give me a little more detail... don't you have an 'old' client running somewhere, one that could access my old temp files?
Thanks
george
PS: I recently lost my laptop, and I'm still in the process of buying a new one...

Hello George
Thank you for your followup. To properly set your expectations, the answer for how to retrieve this information may get a bit technical. I'm not sure how technically proficient you are, but I can give cursory instructions for what to do, and then you'll have a sense of if this is something that you can accomplish, and respond with any direct followup questions.
Essentially, what you'll need to do to get into your account is to try to host the classic client locally, and then retrieve the information that is stored in your browser through the client when you try to log in with your previous username/password combinations. Here is a link to the GitHub repository with the classic client files:
https://github.com/ripple/ripple-client
If you are able to get your local version of the classic client up and running, you'll want to reference your Chrome browser using your version of the client. From here, you would hopefully be able to log in with the username/password combinations you previously had in place. Once logged in, you will want to note your account secret keys, and use them to migrate to Ripple Trade. I hope that this information helps you in restoring account access.

Bryant

Hi Bryant,
Thanks for the link. I have since researched this issue somewhat, and now remember some of the things involved with ripple
Since I have not found the secret key, I am now looking for the wallet file that the client created on my system.
In the old ripple instructions, it was the default option to store the username/password protected wallet file with PAYWARD and a copy was also saved on the local system.
Can you please tell me where that file got stored? -- I have a backup of all my files from that time, including the browser temp directories! ;)
I use/used windows XP and CHROME to access my RIPPLE wallet.
I think there is a problem with the copy of the wallet at PAYWARD!
Thanks in advance,
George

Hello George,
Thank you for your followup. This is helpful, and I've added these public addresses. Here's a link to the full details for the "happygeorge" account:
https://www.ripplecharts.com/#/graph/rDfxa1A8vACx8yiomn2tHHCKzPTMSJfpvE
If you want to view the details for any of your other accounts, just replace the public address in that hyperlink with any of the others. In terms of resolving your issue, due to your username/password combination not working in the account migration wizard, the only way for you to migrate at this time will be with your secret keys. Is there any record of these keys in your notes? Please know that the account secret keys will be 29-character alphanumeric strings that start with an "s". If you're able to locate these secret keys, please follow the instructions outlined in my initial email to use them to migrate to Ripple Trade.
I hope that this information helps. If a workaround for resolving your migration issue is created in the future, I will update you with instructions for how to migrate without a secret key.
Regards,
Bryant

Hi Bryant,
I have only been able to find these ones for sure:
happygeorge rDfxa1A8vACx8yiomn2tHHCKzPTMSJfpvE
happygeorge2 rpQDuvT5UYNoRcMLNWtoTqZjdDBKYzZEeS
happygeorge3 rp8zgoQdCeZuTaRDqbQgVYFRYHnv5YViGk
happygeorge4
happygeorge5
happygeorge6 rHBUEpididgd6Dg7VsS9uzcyFv3rsrchGY
happygeorge7 rKQhaescU1363GXKYK4UKnvHHRYJm9Hvd8
I'm missing 2, I can ask a friend who I was 'testing' RIPPLE with, but he also had the same problem, and so I'm not sure if he can help
I was sending XRP back and forth and setting up trust-lines between them...so they point to eachother in the blockchain, i just can't figure them out now, a bit tired here.. in Thailand at the moment
Cheers,
George

Hello George,
Thank you for your email. Please know that I will not be able to find your account details from these usernames. I will need the Ripple Wallet public addresses. These public addresses will be 34-character alphanumeric strings that begin with an "r". Thank you in advance for providing this additional detail.

Hello George,
Thank you for your followup. Please know that the secret key for an account cannot change. I would like to explore the password issue further. When you try to use username/password combinations to migrate these accounts at https://www.rippletrade.com/#/migrate, do you get any error messages? If so, please send a screenshot of the error, and confirm which account(s) trigger it. From this point, we can figure out the best way to assist you going forward. Thank you in advance for providing this additional detail.

Dear Brian
I found some of my notes and it has:
happygeorge rDfxa1A8vACx8yiomn2tHHCKzPTMSJfpvE (https://explor.io/#/ripple/accounts/rDfxa1A8vACx8yiomn2tHHCKzPTMSJfpvE)
happygeorge2 rpQDuvT5UYNoRcMLNWtoTqZjdDBKYzZEeS (https://explor.io/#/ripple/accounts/rpQDuvT5UYNoRcMLNWtoTqZjdDBKYzZEeS)
happygeorge3 rp8zgoQdCeZuTaRDqbQgVYFRYHnv5YViGk (https://explor.io/#/ripple/accounts/rp8zgoQdCeZuTaRDqbQgVYFRYHnv5YViGk)
the more and more I think about this, my friend's loss of his password may not have been just like that... maybe the system somehow changed the secret key or something
please help
george
Dear Brian,
I just remembered that a friend of mine "lost" the password to one of his accounts I sent XRP to before. Now I seem to have lost it to 7 of my accounts
unfortunately I only have the secret key saved to 3 of them, and 4 still will not open.
I am 99.9999% sure that the password I have saved, the same for all 7 accounts is correct
is there a way to figure out the password if it is the same for all the accounts (except for the username?)
Perhaps the 3 with the secret key could help
How is the secret key generated, is it a combination of the username and password?
cheers,
george
btw, the address with 'happygeorge2' username.... is here: https://explor.io/#/ripple/accounts/rDfxa1A8vACx8yiomn2tHHCKzPTMSJfpvE

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the reply, now the only thing is that I had about 5-6 accounts with different names because I was testing many of the options/functions during the launch of Ripple
do I need to make a new name/email for each one, or could they be combined all in one
The other thing is that I don't have the secret key for some of the accounts that had some funds on it! :(
thanks for your help in advance
